Conversation promotes psychological health and intellectual well being. It is one of the great pleasures of life but it is also the source of much conflict and frustration. What is ‘conversation’ and what makes a ‘good’ conversation? In this series we explored the theory and practice of conversation (week 1). We discussed different kinds of talk, good conversations, the art of conversation, and various conversational processes including storytelling circles (week 6), argument, debate, generative dialogue (week 7) and difficult conversations (week 8). We also looked at virtual conversations using social networking technologies such as SMS, email, chat, Skype and Facebook (weeks 9 and 10).
